Laying in my bed at 9 in the morning. My laptop is resting on my chest, head wedged up on a pillow that is double folded for just the right angle. A documentary movie is on, "Pressure Cooker," about an inner city culinary arts program in Philly (very good.) Suddenly a loud crash brings my consciousness back to its current time and place. I freeze and listen. Another, CRASH! I shove my laptop onto my nightstand and scramble to the window. My bedroom overlooks the backyard. There is a nice sized lawn, a couple large trees and a dumpster. Parked next to the dumpster is an old faded white work van and two men. One of the guys has a large metal hammer in his hand the other is holding an old computer monitor high above his head. SMASH! Bits of plastic and glass leap from the ex monitor as he sends it sailing to the ground. What should I do? Is this illegal? Are they bothering me? Should I call the police? I continue watching. The men take turns with the hammer slowly opening the monitor to expose its innards. It looks fun; maybe I should ask to join in on the hammer rotation? I mean it is MY trashcan... Instead I opt to enjoy the show. In exchange, I will have to clean up the mess. I figure it is a fair trade. Scrappers.
